Swiss Jazz School Bern, PreCollege
​The Swiss Jazz School, founded in 1967, is the first jazz school in Europe. Today it is primarily a training center for comprehensive musical training for young talents who have completed compulsory schooling.

The students choose between the intensive course with regard to university studies in the field of jazz & contemporary music (PreCollege , 2 semesters of 16 weeks each) and an extra-occupational course (SemiPro , up to 6 semesters of 16 weeks each). The SJS emphasizes improvisation, playing in the band (ensemble playing) and ear training.
The Swiss Jazz school has been QuArte certified since 2022.
Die Swiss Jazz School ist seit 2022 QuArte-zertifiziert. Das PreCollege der SJS hat zudem 2023 das Qualitätslabel Precollege Music CH des Verbands Musikschulen Schweiz (VMS) und der Konferenz Musikhochschulen Schweiz (KMHS) erhalten. Sie ist dem Verband Bernischer Musikschulen (VBMS), dem Verband Musikschulen Schweiz (VMS) und der Direktorenkonferenz der Schweizer Jazzschulen (DKSJ) angeschlossen.
